The ashes from the first Great War still darken the snow in 1920s Europa. The capitalistic city-state known simply as "The Factory," which fueled the war with heavily armored mechs, has closed its doors, drawing the attention of several nearby countries. With characters from five factions converging onto a small but highly desired swath of land, who will gain fame and fortune by establishing their empire as the leader of Eastern Europa?
Scythe is a competitive 4X game set in an alternate-history 1920s. It is a time of farming and war, broken hearts and rusted gears, innovation and valor.
As a player of Catan, Lords of Waterdeep and Civilisation, I’m no stranger to strategic board games. I have to say Scythe takes the best of these and makes each game so different with its variety of ways to win, forcing you to change your strategies depending on various circumstances. I have played it 2 player and looking forward to getting some more friends in on it to see what it’s like 4 player. Takes some time to get through the rules but worth it once you get going
Excellent
Wanted a step-up in complexity from Catan and a game that takes the 'random' of a dice away- this has more strategy and layers of depth that will keep experienced users coming back.
Game looks stunning, set pieces and board!
First time I'd advise playing instead of explaining all the rules, look up rules as you come across the scenario.
This is a great game with so much going on. There are so many strategies that will ensure success and games are often really close. It’s got lovely high quality components, and a well laid out, Easy to follow rule book. Great service through this site also, very quick delivery that you can track at each stage.
It arrived very promptly & complete. Sin seems very pleased with his Christmas present. Thanks
