Ten Sherlock Holmes adventures in which you are the hero! You are a member of the Baker Street Irregulars working to solve mysteries before the Master! You are either investigating the mysteries as an individual, or trying to win against up to 8 other investigators.
The curse of the mummy, the murders of the Thames, the mysteries of London, the stolen paintings... strange cases of the most famous detective ever: Sherlock Holmes! Equipped with a copy of the Times, a map of London, a directory and more importantly - your logic, you will roam the streets of London trying to solve the most heinous crimes. Will you visit the crime scene? Meet Inspector Lestrade? The decision is in your hands and each clue that you follow will bring you a step closer to the truth. Unravel the string of intrigue, answer a series of questions and compare your score to that of Sherlock Holmes. Can you beat the Master?
Yes this is a detailed and engrossing game of 10 Holmes style mysteries based in late 19th C London. Extremely very well thought out.
Perhaps a bit OTT and could be intimidating. They could emphasise that there isn't a need to read everything before starting the game.
Fantastic game , beautifully designed maps and newspapers. Kept me guessing all the way. Great plot and characterisation. Impossible to beat Sherlock though, whos simply has to be clairevoyant.
Instructions are short and clear. Easy game to pick up. The cases are well designed and provide numerous leads and possible suspects making for an interesting game.
There is an element of the game whereby you score points by answering questions relating to each case. Your points are affected by how many leads you have followed. I find it more enjoyable to ignore the score aspect and instead just aim to be able to answer all the questions correctly.
Would highly recommend this game.
I played the first case with my girlfriend, really well done as a sort of choose your own adventure using a map and a directory to navigate. Well presented, feels like a quality build, almost good enough to withstand your girlfriend sitting on the map despite you repeatedly asking her not to. If boardgamer has a cure for that I will throw money at them.
Excellent game for long winter nights :) enjoyable even for solo plays. 5 stars :)
